 The WLCI Fashion School offers programmes in Fashion Technology and Fashion Marketing & Merchandising. These programmes are meant for those of you who are interested in taking up career paths in the Fashion Industry. You will be provided with industry-specific knowledge and professional and technical skills required in the Fashion Industry. Our programmes give you a unique traineeship opportunity with leading fashion designers, production and buying houses which gives you a professional edge over your peers. On successful completion of these progammes, you can choose from a wide spectrum of careers. In the field of Fashion Technology, you would gain competencies to work as a Fashion/Costume Designer, Concept Designer, Product Developer, Fashion Illustrator, Fashion Forecaster, Fashion Advisor. Some of our alumni have launched their own design labels. In the area of Fashion Marketing & Merchandising you, would be competent to perform functions of a Quality Controller, Visual/Retail Merchandiser, Production Manager, Retail Store Manager and Sourcing Specialist. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE I

This programme is meant for those of you who wish to acquire knowledge and skills at an advanced level in designing fashion garments and wish to develop an understanding of the process of fashion forecasting. You will learn how fashion trends are researched and monitored and apply these to design and produce fashion products. We teach you advanced designing techniques to create knitwear garments for women, based on fashion forecasts.You will learn different techniques for creating stylized illustrations and develop a signature style of your own. We also teach you current embellishment trends and traditional and contemporary techniques of surface ornamentation including various types of embroidery, dyeing and printing techniques. During this programme, you are given an opportunity to design a collection of womenswear that meets industry standards. On completion of this programme, you would have acquired competencies in fashion forecasting techniques, conceptualizing and designing a womenswear collection of your own.

The programme provides an introduction to advanced draping and grading techniques. You will develop entreprennuial skills and learn to produce a design collection of your own. Throughout the programme, you will be provided a traineeship in the Fashion industry where you will be able to apply knowledge and skills learnt in the classroom at the workplace. You are introduced to draping principles and techniques and develop a variety of garments using dress forms. This involves an understanding of properties of fabrics and developing a proper fit. You learn how to prepare pattern charts and cost sheets and create samples. You are also introduced to the fundamentals of grading techniques, increasing and decreasing pattern sizes and size charts. We help you develop entreprennuial skills to develop a fashion business from concept articulation to exit strategies. You will learn to create a comprehensive and effective business plan to launch a fashion collection/label or company . During the programme, you will also have the opportunity to undertake a traineeship in the industry. Your programme culminates in a final project which showcases your personal fashion ideas and original design collection. You learn to negotiate challenges in producing this collection, which will be presented in a widely publicized Fashion Show. On completion of this programme, you would be competent to join the Fashion industry as a qualified Fashion professional. You would be able to work with reputed fashion designers, production and buying houses, buyers, retail brands and be competent to launch your own fashion line. |
